Detailed Description of VIII/69A :
The WISH catalogue at 352 MHz (de Breuck+ 2002)

Note : this is the description file of the original catalog. This HTML page corresponds well to the original description, but some minor changes in the format may have been introduced in the FITS output files in order to allow for arithmetic operations on quantities such as coordinates and times. h:m:s and d:m:s units are normally converted into degrees, and YYYY-MM-DD into julian days.
Similarly, some slight changes may have been introduced in the units; the value given in the HTML files supersedes the value indicated in the ReadMe file for this catalogue.

Description:
The Westerbork In the Southern Hemishpere (WISH) is a low-frequency
(352MHz) radio survey that covers most of the sky between -25 and -15
degrees (1.60sr) at a wavelength of 92cm to a limiting flux density of
    approximately 18mJy (5sigma).

Due to the very low elevation of the observations, the survey has a
much lower resolution in declination than in right ascension
    (54"x54"cosec{delta}). A correlation with the 1.4GHz NVSS (VIII/65)
shows that the positional accuracy is less constrained in declination
than in right ascension, but there is no significant systematic error.

The correlation with the NVSS was also used to construct a sample of
faint Ultra Steep Spectrum sources (file uss.dat, table 2 of the
paper). This sample is aimed at increasing the number of known high
redshift radio galaxies to allow detailed follow-up studies of these
massive galaxies and their environments in the early Universe.

WISH is a collaboration between the Netherlands Foundation for
Research in Astronomy (NFRA/ASTRON) and the Leiden Observatory. Carlos
De Breuck, Yuan Tang, Ger de Bruyn, Huub Rottgering, Wil van Breugel,
and Roeland Rengelink. For more information, see the WENSS home page

Note (1): some sources are listed twice, if they have been observed in different fields. The double entries provide variability information. Some double entries in the same field are however due to problems in the source fitting algorithm, and are marked with a '*' in the Flags column (see column f_WNB). Note (2): the type is: S = Single component source. M = Multicomponent source. C = Component of a multicomponent source. E = Extended source (more than four components). Note (3): in case of problems in fitting the source, the source parameters were obtained using 'aperture' integration.
